This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you
What information do we collect about you?

We collect basic information about you when you become a member, this includes your name and contact details.


How we use the information about you.

We collect information about you in order to maintain our membership list and manage LMC. We will use your information to provide details of events, annual membership renewal and the AGM.

 

LMC is affiliated to the BMC, and as part of this, your information is shared with them. LMC will not share your information with another third party without your consent.


Other Purposes

LMC uses a third party group mail provider (googlegroups / yahoogroups) allowing members to communicate with each other. As a member you are able to join this group, and other members will recieve any personal information you share on there, including your email address. GoogleGroups / YahooGroups have their own privacy policy. Through this service, we will receive industry standard information on your engagement including opens and clicks.

If you agree, we will also use your details to send you information about other LMC events and activities throughout the year. This includes (but is not limited to) details of local walks, bike rides and climbing trips and socials. LMC uses a third party email newsletter provider (Mailchimp) to send information to members and those who have expressed an interest in the club. Only the information required to send the newsletter will be shared with them & can only be used for this purpose. Mailchimp have their own privacy policy. Through this service, we will receive industry standard information on your engagement with the newsletters including opens and clicks.

If you have consented to receiving this information, you have the right to stop us from contacting you for this purpose at any time.


Access to your information, correction and retention.

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal data, please email us. It is important to use to make sure your personal information is up to date. You may ask us to correct or update information at any time, or ask us to remove data that is inaccurate. If you decide you no longer want to be a member, we will keep your information on file for a period of time to comply with the BMC affiliation requirements.


Cookies & website data.

When you visit the LMC website, we may use a standard service to collect anonymous information about users' activity on the site, for example the number of users viewing pages on the site, to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the site and help us improve it. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, and you can remove any cookies from your browser. This policy only covers the LMC website. If you link through to another website, you would need to read their privacy policy.

LMC also has a twitter, facebook and instagram page, these are publically available and you can interact with them. Through this service, we will receive industry standard information on your engagement with these social media streams including likes, shares and clicks.

We keep our privacy policy under review and we will place any updates on the LMC website. This policy was updated 7/5/18
